The wild beaches

From Jurilovca you can reach wild beaches by boat or by kayak, with no sunbeds and no crowds.

Here the waves, the shells and the birds make for a perfect setting to relax or take photos.

Where to find wild beaches

  • Gura Portiței – the long strip of untouched sand between the lake and the sea
  • the sandy shores and hidden islands of the Razelm–Sinoe lagoon complex

These places lie between the Black Sea and Lake Razelm.

Getting there

  • By speedboat: about 20 minutes from Jurilovca Tourist Harbour to Gura Portiței, around 80 lei per person, return
  • By kayak: from an hour to several hours, depending on where you’re going and the wind; ideal for exploring the nearby bays

The boat transfer is run by local boatmen Vali (0724 178 299) and Adi (0723 310 692); it’s best to book ahead. You can hire a kayak from JuriLotca, with Ștefan Constantin, for 80 lei/day. On the lake, only go out by kayak early in the morning, when the water is like glass.

What to bring

  • swimsuit and towel
  • a bottle of water and a spare T-shirt
  • sun cream, a hat and sunglasses
  • a light rain poncho: the weather between the lake and the sea can change suddenly

When to go to the wild beaches

Summer is the perfect time for the beach, for relaxing at Gura Portiței and for boat trips. The boats run all year round, though, weather and wind permitting.
