Where to stay in Jurilovca: in the village or at Gura Portiței?

Most people who come for a few days choose to stay in the village. You’re close to the restaurants, the shops and the Tourist Harbour, where the boats leave for Gura Portiței, Cape Doloșman and the Delta channels. You head out on a trip in the morning and come back in the evening for dinner and the quiet of the lakeshore.

The other option is to stay right at Gura Portiței, on the strip of sand between the lake and the sea. You can only get there by boat, so it suits you if you want a few days of nothing but beach. For trips into the Delta, to the Argamum Fortress or to Ferma Lipovenesc, the village is still the most convenient base.

When to book accommodation in Jurilovca

Long weekends, the 1 May mini-break and the months of July and August are the busiest, and the small guesthouses in the village fill up first. If your dates are fixed, call early. Out of season it’s easier to find a room, but check beforehand that the guesthouse and the restaurants nearby are open.

What to ask the guesthouse before you book

  • Meals: is breakfast included? Can you have dinner at the guesthouse too?
  • Parking: is there space for the car in the yard?
  • Distance to the harbour: it matters if you’ll be going out by boat a lot.
  • Payment: card, cash or holiday vouchers?
  • Cancellation: what happens to the deposit if the weather turns bad?

Don’t forget that Jurilovca is in the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, so you need the tourist access permit. You get it from the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Administration. You’ll find details on getting here, money and opening hours in the practical information, and for meals see where to eat in Jurilovca.
